The Ford F150 Raptor, along with most off-road or truck applications, present several technical challenges when doing a complete brake upgrade.
The main limitations faced in a truck application is the limitation of the factory wheels (17 inches, with poor clearance), the need for significant upgrade in disc size & thermal capacity, and integrating with the vehicles OE systems (Master cylinder, ABS, Electronic Parking brake).
Alcon Components, an industry leading Motorsport brake supplier, has been creating bespoke brake packages specific to unique markets (example: street and Motorsport off road and truck applications), decided to offer a complete brake upgrade for the Ford F150 Raptor.
The Alcon Kit for the Ford F150 Raptor is unique because it ticks all the specific boxes of a perfect brake upgrade for a niche truck and off-road application. The Alcon brake kit for the Ford Raptor fits behind the OEM 17 inch wheels without requiring a wheel upgrade, offers significant thermal capacity over the OE discs, integrates seamlessly with the OE brake system and parking brake, and improves stopping power with upgraded brake calipers.
EXQUIS Inc, the importer for Alcon brake components in the North America, worked to collaborate with SP Engineering in Southern California as a partner for these complete brake upgrades on the Ford Raptor.
SP Engineering, a dealer of Alcon brakes based out of the City of Industry in California, has years of experience building complete performance vehicle and engine builds for various intended uses (street to track). When SP Engineering chooses upgrades for any aftermarket component on a project that SP Engineering builds, they only choose to partner with specific suppliers who supply tested and validated components that meet the demands of street or racing use.
SHORTCOMINGS OF THE OE BRAKE SYSTEM
The OE Brake system on the Ford 150 Raptor (like all OE systems generally speaking) are designed to offer just enough braking performance while maintaining comfort. The OE brake components are also designed for cost savings to the auto manufacturer and are not designed for maximum performance or braking confidence.
The Ford F150 Raptor OE brakes use sliding 2 piston front and 1 piston rear calipers along with very standard pillar vane discs that are not designed for maximum durability under performance off road or street use.
BENEFITS OF THE ALCON BRAKE UPGRADE
The Alcon 6 piston front, 4 piston rear complete brake upgrade for the Ford Raptor will clear the OEM 17 inch wheels so the spending of extra money on a wheel upgrade just to clear upgraded brakes is not necessary. There are spacers included in each kit to ensure the proper wheel clearance.
Very Little Work for OEM Integration
The Alcon complete brake upgrade for the Ford F150 Raptor works seamlessly with the OEM master cylinder, brake lines, ABS and electronic parking brake. (NOTE: There are slight modifications needed for the heat shield in the rear.)
Street & Performance Use
The Alcon 6 and 4 piston calipers use high temperature rubber seals to ensure pedal feel and consistency at high temperatures. These specific Alcon calipers also use wiper seals to protect the primary piston seals against debris and dirt. This ensures that the Alcon brake upgrade is suitable for use under various environments (tarmac and dirt).
Larger and heavier duty brake discs offer greater heat mass resulting in improvements of up to 10% in disc temperature rise. The consistent and heavy duty nature of these brake discs results in longer component life as well.
Pedal feel and Braking Performance
Alcon 6 and 4 piston calipers are engineered to offer maximum strength, stiffness, and performance resulting in a 15% pedal effort reduction to achieve the same level of “stopping power”. This upgrade offers a significant difference in driver confidence on vehicles with a higher center of gravity or a longer pedal stroke.

GENERAL INSTALL PROCEDURE
Remove OEM wheels and brake components. Keep in mind that the Alcon Ford F150 Raptor kit retains the OEM brake lines and fittings so those parts need to be retained.
Install the provided front tie rod and suspension linkage components so that the Alcon front brake package can be installed properly.
Install the front Alcon brake package. First the discs need to be installed on the truck, then the calipers (which are pre-loaded with brake pads) are installed. Please make sure the front brake lines are securely fastened. The torque for the front caliper bolts is 106-110Nm.
There is some modification needed to the rear brake heat shields so that the rear Alcon brake package can be installed (excess material needs to be removed so the Alcon calipers will fit). Please make sure these modifications are done by a professional.
Install the rear Alcon brake package. First the discs need to be installed on the truck, then the calipers (which are pre-loaded with brake pads) are installed. Please make sure the rear brake lines are securely fastened. Torque the bolts to the original manufacturer's specification.
Make sure to install the wheel spacers included with the Alcon brake upgrade on the front and rear axles.
Make sure the system is properly flushed and bled through with good brake fluid following the OE procedure. We recommend Brembo Racing, Endless RF650, or Castrol SRF racing brake fluid for the best pedal feel and performance.
Install the OEM wheels, torque them down to the OE specifications, and make sure the wheels rotate freely and clear the brakes.
Follow the proper Alcon bedding procedure to properly bed in the brake pads and discs. There should be an even and consistent transfer layer of pad material on the brake discs.
Your new Alcon Brake system is now ready for use!
How Much do I Need to Spend on the Alcon Brake Upgrade?
The Alcon upgrade for the Ford F150 Raptor is $6000.00 MSRP for the complete front and rear brake upgrade, spacers, and the tie rod upgrade package needed to seamlessly install the brakes on any Gen 1 or Gen 2 Ford F150 Raptor.
Typical competitor brake kits cost significantly more per axle, AND are not designed to clear factory wheels or integrate with the OEM parking brake or hydraulic systems, so one might need to spend more money on additional unnecessary parts like wheels or other parts to simply make the upgrades work.
If I Decide to Buy the Alcon Brake Upgrade, How Soon Can I Get It?
These Alcon brake upgrades for the Raptor are generally always in-stock. Typically, a confirmed order for an Alcon brake kit for a Ford F150 Raptor can be processed same or next day if the order is placed by 3 pm PST.
